Don Goodman and Tony Daley arrived at the Wolverhampton wanderers football club at the start of the 1994 – 1995 league season and the club enjoyed a remarkable run in the league that saw them reach the play offs by the end of the campaign as they finished off in fourth position. Graham Taylor had taken charge at the club and he was a reason behind their up surge in the first division.
The 1995 – 1996 season saw a down turn in the clubs fortunes as they finished the campaign of fin 20th position, this time narrowly escaping relegation.
They crashed out of the FA cup in the sixth round as they suffered defeat against Aston Villa in an all Midlands derby.
The 1996 – 1997 campaign saw Wolves improve dramatically and came a whisker away from promotion via the automatic route and the play off route as they finished the season of fin third position.
Wolves finished the 1997 – 1998 campaign in a ninth position finish and enjoyed a terrific campaign in the FA cup, reaching the semi finals of the competition, suffering a defeat against Arsenal in the last four.
