Wolves 2002 – 2003 first division campaign saw the arrival of Paul Ince and Denis Irwin at the club, players who brought some fine experience to the team.
Kenny Miller was sin incredible form for the club up front scoring over 20 goals for Wolves which was a major contributor factor to earning promotion in to the premier league.
Their debut campaign in the FA Premiership proved to be short lived as they were condemned to a 20th position finish at the end of the season. Wanderers crashed out of the FA cup in the fourth round as they suffered defeat against West Ham United in the fourth round of the cup competition.
Wolves found life difficult to adjust to back in the second tier of English football during the 2004 – 2005 campaign as they could only manage a disappointing ninth position finish by the end of the season. They also were disappointing in the league cup as they suffered elimination in the second round of the competition against Burnley.
The 2005 – 2006 campaign saw the club once again reach the second round of the league, suffering elimination against Watford FC. They narrowly missed out on a play off place as they finished the season off in seventh position.
